LBBE - Hevea Baby Pacifier Review

When it comes to baby, I like to keep things natural and simple. There are many products, even for babies, that just don't fit those criteria. There is one such company out there that feels the same way, especially about pacifiers. That company is Hevea Baby USA. Hevea Baby makes a great 100% natural rubber pacifier.

As the picture above notes, these pacifiers are made from 100% natural rubber. They are BPA, PVC, and phalate free. That is really awesome in my book. It was shortly after my first son was born that I started hearing and learning so much more about BPA and what it can do to kids and so now I am doing all I can to keep it away from both of my kids and from the family as a whole.
So, now on to our experience. Well, we waited for at least three weeks before trying out any nipples or pacifiers other than my built in ones. :) Baby C is still trying to get used to pacifiers and such. I have tried this pacifier but she seems to not be too keen on the shape. As she gets more used to having something other than my finger or breast in her mouth, she may become more apt to take this shaped pacifier. Until then, I am trying to learn what she might like and what she does not.
I did really like the solid design of this pacifier, there are not real nooks or crannies for dirt or anything to get caught in. Yes, there are design cutouts, but they seem pretty easy to get to with a nipple brush. I do think that the design is nice and distinctive. I like it. I would love if Baby C ended up using this pacifier more often as she gets a little older.
Now, I am hoping that Baby C does not get as addicted to a pacifier as LJ did, but I do think it can be good for a baby to use one when they are young. They have been found to help reduce the risk of SIDS. I think it can also work nicely as something that calms little ones when they need it most.
I think this is a great pacifier made with good materials. You can learn more about this and other great Hevea products at Hevea Baby USA. Also, check out their facebook page!

LBBE - BumCoveredDiapers.com ***Review and Giveaway!*** (closed)

Bumcovereddiapers.com is an awesome company. I have loved what they have available for ages. When we found out we were expecting Baby C, I started looking at all of the shops I love and wishing I could buy so many diapers. Bumcovereddiapers.com had a new diaper that she was working on perfecting. One of their newest diapers available are the Build-your-own Fitted Diapers.

From the site:

These fitted diapers are made exactly to your liking, with four layers of fabric and a heavy soaker pad sewn inside. We can create a custom diaper especially for your little one. You choose the color, lining material, and the soaker material!

I love that I can now build my very own fitted diaper exactly the way that I want it to be and for an awesomely reasonable price. The outside is a super soft flannel. The inside can be flannel or microfleece material.
Prices range from $6.00-$9.00, depending on your selections.

Melissa from BumCoveredDiapers sent me a flannel diaper with aplix for Baby C. It was made with some super cute pink flannel and a thin strip of aplix on the front of the diaper. At first I thought the aplix on the front was a little thin, but with Baby C being as tiny as she is and the belly button sticks out enough that most aplix fronts start to rub. This aplix doesn't get close enough to the edge of the diaper to rub her belly at all. That is a big plus to me! This diaper is the small and Baby C is maybe around 7 pounds now.

I love how this diaper fits her. Yes, it might be a little big in some areas, but that tells me that she will be able to wear it for some time instead of outgrowing it within a week or two. The absorbency is really nice with these diapers. With Baby C, I don't need a whole lot, but it is a perfect amount that she can end up wetting her diaper more than once and still be good to go. Also, it has held in BF poos. Yes, Baby C made sure to test this diaper to its full extent the first time it was put on her. I love this diaper and for the cost, you can't beat it.

LBBE - Babylegs ***Review and Giveaway!*** (closed)

One thing that I quickly grew to love when I started to use cloth diapers were babylegs. I loved the idea of being able to put on some great baby leg warmers to keep LJ's legs warm while keeping the diaper nice and accessible for those changes that happen oh so often.

Some of the cutest leg warmers that I have found have been Babylegs, by far. They have so many different cute patterns and products. When looking for the next pair of leg warmers for your little one, you will always have trouble picking just one. What makes this company even better is that they have so many great products, not just baby leg warmers. You can also buy newborn leg warmers, baby socks, and tights (regular and footless).
Babylegs sent me a little grab bag of their products. Paul, from Babylegs even sent a little surprise for big brother LJ when he sent out things for Baby C.
What did LJ get in the bag? Well, take a look:
LJ loves these fire engine Babylegs. As soon as he saw these leg warmers, he wanted to wear them. I love that he is willing to wear something that will help to keep him nice and warm and he loves that he gets to wear something that looks like a firetruck. LJ loves firetrucks right now and so seeing these just really made his day.
My little LJ is such a skinny mini and even under jeans and other pants I worry that he is not able to stay warm enough. When we stay home and he is in cloth, I want to make it as easy as I can to change him when he says that he needs a new "ber-ber" (diaper). Babylegs are the perfect answer to both of these situations.

Baby C has a cute pair of newborn Babylegs in the purple butterfly pattern. They are so tiny and really cute and so big on her little legs! I couldn't believe that something so tiny would end up so big on her legs, but I know that she liked them because she did not fuss nearly as much for diaper changes when she had them on. Once we start going out of the house more, I know that I will be putting these on her little legs to ensure that she stays warm during these cold winter days.

LBBE - Fleece Soaker from Zizzies and Izzies ***Review & Giveaway!*** (Closed)

I love finding some really great WAHMs on Etsy. There are so many talented women and men out there and Etsy can be a great way to find them. One such person is Shelly from Zizzies and Izzies.

I was sent a fleece soaker in the newborn size. Since we knew that we were having a little girl, I enjoyed being able to get things that were undoubtedly girlie. Shelly sent me one of her flower soakers and oh my is it cute!

Baby C is still under 7 pounds and look how perfect this soaker fits her. It even fits nicely under her cord stump.  I was so glad when I saw the size of the soaker as I knew it would actually have a chance of fitting my newborn where most diapers in a "newborn" size are still too big. Right now she is fitting more of a preemie size in diapers and outfits. I have been able to put a small prefold that I made for her and this fits over it nicely.
I love soakers because they really help to let air through to baby's skin and that has been a big thing for us as Baby C has gotten red really fast with disposables and the weather we have been having has not helped her skin either. Even just one prefold with this soaker on top and the redness is greatly reduced. It makes me feel good that her bum is not as sore as it might have been.
I highly recommend stopping by Zizzies and Izzies to see what is available for your little one. The prices are great and she really does have a great selection of fabrics to choose from.

***Buy It!***
You can head over to Zizzies and Izzies Etsy site and purchase a 2 pack of fleece soakers for $15.00.
She has a ton of other great products you can check out while you are there!

LBBE - Overstock.com ***Review and Discount***

Part of having a new baby is needing some new baby items. These can get expensive quickly. Overstock.com helps you to keep these costs down. They are an online retailer that has everything from Diamond rings to sporting goods, and so much more! I was recently able to review some of the items available at Overstock.com and given a discount code to use and give to my wonderful readers! (Code will be at the end of the post)

First, I must say, with having a second child and LJ only being 2.5 we knew we were going to need a sit-n-stand stroller of some description. It just so happen that overstock.com had one that we had been looking at! Overstock.com already had the stroller for a lower price than we have found anywhere else. Then I was able to use my discount code and save even more!

It is really easy to use Overstock.com' website. You can easily search for almost any product possible. The set-up of their category section is also really easy to navigate. I was able to quickly find their selection of sit-n-stand strollers and find the one we were looking for. I had a lot of fun looking around and doing some daydreaming of my own, too. :)

Seeing as I am going to be a stay-at-home mommy of two soon, I find myself thinking more and more of Coffee Makers. Right now I drink more tea than anything, but being able to make up a cup of decaf tea or coffee when I need a little treat would be so nice when juggling my new life to come. Heck, I find myself hankering for that some mornings already, but I don't feel like lugging out our big 12 cup maker for just a cup or two.

Of course, we have an older house and we don't have a ton of good storage spaces, so I also had to check out that section of the site. We are looking for some kind of storage unit that will fit behind our one door so we can easily store our gloves and hats and the like in reach of the coats when we are heading out the door. The biggest hurdle for us is that it can only be 12 inches deep or wide. Of course I found a unit in the storage section that would be perfect for our purpose!

Checkout is super easy as well. You have a few different options for checkout. You can use your credit card, or you can use Paypal. Not many bigger sites let you use your Paypal account. I find this really handy for those with a Paypal account, like myself (though I didn't use it). There is also an option (should you qualify) to use "Bill Me Later."

Do you know what the greatest part of Overstock.com is? Their price for shipping. They mention it in every commercial and it is all over their site, and that is because it is so awesome! What is it, you ask?
$2.95 shipping on your entire order, Always! That's it! You can spend 20 dollars on one item or hundreds on several things on their site and you still pay just $2.95 for shipping. How great is that?! I love it! I know I saved a bundle on the shipping cost alone by using Overstock.com to buy our new stroller.

So, now for the good part!
Overstock.com has given me the opportunity to share a great discount code good for 10% off Overstock products (excluding movies, books, and electronics). This discount code never expires, however, it can only be used once per email address.
Ready for the code?
Here it is: 121745

Since this code is not good for electronics, Overstock.com also gave me a free shipping promo code for electronics: 202234

Disclosure: All the ideas and opinions expressed are my own. No monetary compensation was received for doing this post, however, I was provided with a discount code.

LBBE - GoGreen Wipes ***Review and Giveaway!*** (closed)

I am going to kick off this "Little Bundle Baby Event" with a great company and one of their new products!

I am sure that many of you have heard about GoGreen Pocket Diapers. Now, GoGreen Pocket Diapers has Funky Cloth wipes!
These wipes are great! Each wipes is made from 2 layers of a nice soft cotton knit and measures about 5.5" x 5.5". You are going to love the colors that come in each pack. One thing that I loved was that each color was also a slightly different material. While some materials did shrink up more than others, they are all really nice. Some wipes that you get from other companies can be too thick, in my opinion. By having just two layers of a cotton knit, the wipes stay slim and fit perfectly in a commercial wipes container without getting stuck in the slot when pulling the next wipe out for clean up time.

Leah sent me 15 of her new wipes for me to review. I was so happy to get the wipes in the mail that I prepped them that afternoon so I could start using the wipes on LJ as soon as possible!

I found that the white wipes did shrink quite a bit, but they are ribbed and stretch right out. The blue wipes did also shrink a little, but not all that much. Really, I don't need to have all my wipes the exact same size and they are only going to be cleaning up my babe's bum anyway.

Speaking of babe's bum, GoGreen's wipes really get the job done. They clean up things quickly and I tend to use less of these wipes per change than some of my others. I love that! The less I have to be using up my wipes, the better.

These wipes are just so awesome. I love how soft they are after each washing. They seem to be getting better and better really. They are the first wipes I put into the wipes container now when I am getting low. Like I mentioned above too, I love that they are nice and thin so that they easily pop-up from my wipes container. I store my wipes damp and folded so they pop-up like traditional disposable wipes and there some on the market that just do not allow for this type of use.

GoGreen Pocket Diapers' wipes are great! They are sold in three different quantities and at awesome prices!
The pack of 15 wipes is only $4.95! You can also buy packs of 25 and 50! Yes, 50 wipes, and they are only $18.95!

You can purchase packs of 15, 25, or 50 wipes HERE.

Don't forget your extra Entries! (plus a lil update)

So, my very first blog event will be starting next week! I can't believe it is February already and Baby C is here. The first post for the event will be up on Tuesday. If you have not already gotten in your extra entries, head on over to this post and get them in. I will leave them open for a little after the event starts, but they will not be there for the entire event.
So, Baby C arrived on February 1st. We came home on Thursday then. My whole birth story will be another day's post all together. I can't believe that she is here and we are now a family of four. It is nice and she is doing great.

I will say that I am glad that I have the first two posts of the baby event already done and ready to post. It is a big process off my mind for the moment. I do have so much that I am still getting used to. I think going from one to two kids is a bigger move than none to one. I am very lucky that LJ is taking this change in stride really. He loves his little sister. I can't to see how much of a big helper he is when it becomes just him and me and baby C during the days. Friday I was lucky enough to have Hubby be able to take a half a day of work so he could come home and help me out with getting us all ready to take Baby C to her appt and weight check that morning and then help with LJ when he was not napping that afternoon.

So, I may not be able to post as much as I would like in the week to come as I learn to balance new baby, 2 year old, home and blog all at once. It will be interesting, but in time I will be able to find the balance we need.
I am still here. I have not gone very far, but we do have our new little bundle here with us giving us so much joy!

Until next time... Happy Loving!

Ring in the New Year Event!

I have found a great new blog (well, new to me). Her name is Bargain Mom. Starting December 1st, she is host her biggest event to date. Well, that might be all well and good, but why blast it to the world? Well, I will tell you why. She is having a giveaway a week for the month of December and there will be a grand prize winner for the event that will be drawn on January 1st.

What is the grand prize? Well, how about a $500 DeluxeCard Visa gift card plus over $1,500 in prizes from her sponsors!
How awesome is that!?! She hasn't listed all of her sponsors yet, but they will be up soon. I can't wait to see what all is in store for us, but it is sounding like this is going to be one great way to Ring in the New Year!

Another Baby Event

Okay. So, in line with yesterday's post, I have found another great mommy blogger who is hosting an awesome event. The blog: Monkey Tales. The event: Mommy & Me Baby Blessings Event. I have been following Monkey tales since just before I started blogging. It was her blog along with a couple others that made me want to start blogging.
Anyway, back to the event. She will be hosting a great event for any mommy-to-be, already a mommy, or for those who know someone who is going to be a mommy. There will even be some giveaways just for mom. She is even giving her readers until September 30th to get extra entries in to her giveaways. I am super excited to see what she has in store. I can't wait to see if I am a lucky winner of some great baby gear for our soon to be baby. :)
Head on over to Monkey Tales and check things out! I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Lynifer's Diaper Insert Giveaway! ~CLOSED!~

I know this has been a long awaited post.  I have wanted to post this for weeks now, but life has kept me from it. Well, now here you go!
The time has come for my very first giveaway. I am super excited for this one for many reasons. One, it's the first giveaway for my blog. Second, these items were made by Me. I have a small little in home venture where I sew all kinds of things. I call my venture Lynifer. Now, seeing as I am the one that made these inserts, having me review them, wouldn't be right. I had two wonderful mommas test two different styles of my inserts. Now for the reviews given by the testers...

I love Lynifer's cloth diaper inserts! My favorite is the contoured insert because it is so absorbent and is super soft. It fits perfectly inside my Bum Genius 3.0's! The insert washes up very nicely and it is my "go to" insert for nap and nighttime diapers. Thanks!

These cloth diaper inserts are the best I could have hoped for! I am a big fan of her contoured design that I slip inside my MotherEase diapers. They are obsorbent and soft without being too bulky. Lyn has hit the mark with this design that washes just as nicely as it wears. I've had them for months and they still look great!

About Lynifer's Inserts: Each insert is made from a total of 5 layers. The top layer is soft flannel. There are two inner layers of microfiber terry, and then there are two layers of cotton. Liquid tests that I did showed that these inserts could hold up to 7 ounces of liquid.

Buy It: These diaper inserts can be purchased through Lynifer's website for $2.50 each.

Win It: I am giving one winner a set of my diaper inserts. One winner will receive a straight cut insert and a contoured insert as well.

Mandatory Entry: Okay, so right now my blog's name is just Lynifer's blog. I am thinking of changing this to a more catchy or fun name. For the mandatory entry, I would love for you to either give me an idea for my blog's new name, or tell me your favorite blog title/name. One name idea that has been thrown around has been Sew Thrifty Lynifer, as an idea of where I might be going with the name and theme. If you cannot think of a blog title, feel free to name your favorite diaper.

New to Cloth - Accessories

I am going to have one last post in this series before the big finale of my first series. If you read my posts, you already know that we are setting up to have our very first give-away. I am super excited for it. Now on to the post itself.
One thing that can be daunting when it comes to using cloth diapers is having to consider all of the different accessories out there. What do you really need, what is just for kicks, and what is an absolute waste of money? Well, I want to share what accessories I use, ones I have considered, and what I would love to have.

First off you can't CD (in my opinion) without some great wet bags. I have two travel sized wet bags that rotate in and out of the diaper bag. I also have a wet bag duffel that I use as a pail liner. I made this duffel actually. Having a wet bag is a wonderful thing. If you buy one that is of good quality, it will contain the stink and wash clean. All you will have to do is empty it in to your washer and then throw it in with the diaper wash. Having a few great wet bags will make your cloth life much nicer.

Next on the list of accessories is wipes. While you could continue to use regular baby wipes, they shouldn't be flushed and they can't be washed. So, you will have the cloth diaper for the wet bag, the poo for the toilet, and then wipes for the trash. That is just too much, to me. I know a lot of moms use cloth wipes if they use cloth diapers. For newborns, I can consider it, but for my two year old, I don't want that mess. I prefer to make my own flushable wipes for him. It is really simple and you can just flush the dirty wipe with the mess from the diaper. Cloth wipes are even easier since you just toss it in the bag with the diaper and wash with your laundry. Very simple if you ask me.

Some moms swear by their diaper sprayer. I do not have one. Usually I don't need one. I would love to try one out, but they can be expensive. They may be a great thing, but I don't think they are always necessary.
Liners. This is how I get around the mess issues with my diapers. I have found flushable diaper liners to be a wonderful thing. I will even go so far as to say that the new GroVia bio-liners are the best. They cost less then other brands and work better. :) All you have to do is put a liner in the diaper. When baby makes a mess, toss it in the potty with the mess and you are good to go. If you have septic, you may have to be careful. I sometimes let the liner sit in the water a bit before flushing so it have more time to breakdown before going through the pipes.

Now one last thing, there are several accessories that can be nice to have, but I feel that really to cloth diaper you don't need much more than the diapers themselves. That should be the point really. One great thing about cloth is that rashes are decreased greatly. My son almost never gets a rash now unless he is in disposables for longer than normal. If you do have to use a rash cream, make sure it is one meant for cloth diapers. Others can ruin your diapers by making them repel something fierce. Again, GroVia has a great balm that is in stick form and you never have to actually touch the balm; just rub it on baby's bottom.
I know there are many more accessories out there for cloth diaper users. I don't really use many. I wanted to highlight what I use and what I think is a good thing for moms to consider when making the switch to cloth.
Do you have a favorite diapering accessory? Feel free to comment to let us all know. I always strive to learn from other moms. We are a community of learners and mothers, lets share the wisdom. :)
Until next time.... happy diapering!
